A huge thank you to Westgate Las Vegas Resorts for sponsoring this post.
If you’re looking for places to stay in Las Vegas, you’re probably familiar with the many hotels the strip has to offer.
Each hotel on the strip has a unique selling feature, and you need to map out what is most important to you during your stay.
As a local, it’s fun to see which hotels offer what. A bonus is when I get to stay at these hotels to see what it’s like to be a tourist in Las Vegas.
My sister and I were guests at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, and we were pleasantly surprised.
In this post, you’ll get a taste of what the Westgate Las Vegas Resort is all about and what our stay here was like.
Expect to eat at the top Westgate restaurants famous in Las Vegas as well as sing lots Barry Manilow songs.
About Westgate Las Vegas
The Westgate opened on July 2, 1969, by legendary Las Vegas developer Kirk Kerkorian.
To put it all into perspective, last year the Westgate celebrated 50 years as an International hotel.
If you’ve ever been to a Las Vegas convention, located next door, you’ve probably heard of the Westgate Hotel.
Many A-list entertainers have performed at this hotel including Barbra Streisand, Wayne Newton, Nancy Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and The Osmonds, to name a few.
Barry Manilow currently headlines at the Westgate Las Vegas, and I am happy to report that it is a fantastic show (went pre-COVID).
Here you will find the world’s largest Race & Sports Book and many great Westgate restaurants including Benihana, Rikki Tikki Sushi, and Fresco Italiano.
Westgate Restaurants Las Vegas
Did you know that the Westgate is home to famous restaurants like Fresco Italiano which is the number one Italian restaurant in Las Vegas?
They hold the TripAdvisor certificate of excellence award. My sister and I ate there on the first night of our stay, and we loved it. We ordered the Caprese salad to start which came with fresh heirloom tomatoes, burrata, basil oil, and extra virgin olive oil.
It was so good that we contemplated ordering one to take to the room – I wish we just said yes!
For our main dish, we went with the spaghetti Pomodoro, and it was a 10/10. I am a huge Italian foodie (see my post here) so this one will be going on my list of go-to Italian places.
Michelle Cabrera, Executive Director of Food & Beverage, graciously took care of my sister and I. Before my sister and I sat down, Michelle personally walked us over to Guest Services to get a players card for the 50% off dining benefits locals receive. She was so sweet for doing this before the meal. We were shocked and so excited!
Because of this players card, we had 50% taken off our meal.
If you’re a local reading this – Fresco Italiano is 50% off every Thursday night.
Thank You, Michelle! Also, ask to sit in Andy’s section of the restaurant. What a gem – so sweet and helpful.
Hibachi in Las Vegas is another great option for dinner, and luckily, Westgate is home to Benihana, another world-famous restaurant.
Benihana is an authentic Japanese cultural adventure with a Las Vegas twist. You can easily make a reservation through their website. Hop on the monorail or take an uber and you’re on your way to a fantastic dinner. Benihana’s hours are located on their website and keep in mind that they are closed Monday-Wednesday.
Map of Westgate Las Vegas
All information regarding room size, pricing, arrival and departure times can be found on their website.
Room prices vary depending on the type of room you choose. The Westgate Resort is a relatively inexpensive hotel to stay in with TONS of specials and Vegas vacation packages you can choose from!
If you’re looking to save some money, but would still like the luxury of staying in a resort-style hotel, this is the place for you.
There is a very convenient monorail that offers a short ride to the Las Vegas Strip. At this time, the monorail is temporarily unavailable due to COVID, but that is something to keep in mind once things open up.
The Westgate is located on the northern end of the strip. If you need a great visual, check out this Las Vegas Strip Map for a helpful guide of where everything is.
This is also an excellent map of the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas. It gives you a nice visual of where things are with the strip and convention center.
Travel Safety During Covid-19 at the Westgate Las Vegas Hotel
Safety precautions are being taken very seriously thanks to Westgate’s Clean Hotel policy.
Face masks are required to be worn around the hotel, and your temperature is taken before you walk in. There is a 24-hour minimum vacancy between guests, and they are regularly sanitizing high-traffic areas. I was a little apprehensive at first, but I felt very comfortable around the hotel.
The Westgate has a contactless check-in and check-out.
Hand Sanitizer is available throughout the hotel for staff and guests.
The room felt spotless, and we had a great view of the Las Vegas Strip.
